Storage Shelves

These storages shelves sit in my client’s office / guest room. Overtime it had become a dumping ground for everything. The overloaded shelf gave the small room a cluttered and heavy feeling. Despite this being a relatively small project, it was difficult to tackle because it contained a lot of sentimental contents. Many of the bins were full of old photos, cards, letters and other memories. We divided the shelf contents into different piles (belongs elsewhere, recycling, memories and requires more steps). I sorted the more less sentimental things and created some distinct categories (sewing, office supplies, art materials) while my client spent more time with the personal things.

In the end, we managed to get through A LOT, but there was still a couple small boxes of old cards that needed to be sorted later with a glass of wine. While this shelf will change over time, the categories we created have space for new objects, memories and materials, but now there is a place for them to go!
